Vivek's Ltd - Walk the Talk with the CEO

Looking for a nice fun activity to do , I happened to stumble upon a " Walk The Talk" meeting with the CEO of Vivek's Limited. Vivek's is one of the biggest retailers in South India and was a massive force in the home appliances, kitchen and large appliances segment. So when it was a chance to get to meet Vivek's CEO in person it was a great opportunity not to miss out

The event coincided with the Great Vivek's warehouse sale that happens once a year for three days in their large warehouse. The warehouse is 400,000 sqft + and divided into three sections. One for mobiles, another for home and kitchen needs while the other was for Large appliances like TV, Fridge and washing machine

The CEO, was kind enough to share his business thoughts, insights, the rise of retail and even how it will play out to be in the future. The story of the retail development in the country was actually an interesting thing to hear and he took more than 1.5 hours patiently explaining things to the people.

As he went about explaining the various finer aspects of retailing and service business, one cant wonder how a single man could have built a huge empire like this in such difficult times , esp in retail which is the facing the onslaught through online retailing . The surprising thing is , its still going strong with no signs of a downward trend and that's actually a happy sight to see where brick and mortar stores are fighting tooth and nail to compete in this business

The only question we asked why isn't the warehouse sale not opening through the year and happening just three days a year and people would only be very happy to come and purchase the same
For those of you, who are not aware, the Vivek's Giant Warehouse Sale is happening from March 25-28th ' 2016 , in Manapakkam warehouse , behind DLF Chennai

Here are some of my clicks from the event :

Wild Tribe Ranch - Hotspot of Adventure in Chennai

When it comes to activities , Chennai had its fair share of things to do around the city.Be it the beach, temples, shopping, resorts, and of course food trails. But when it comes to adventure activities, there was only a few places where you could head to and the city always needed a change in scene.

East Coast Road was the key area, that happened to be in the focus of all adventure seekers and it was only time before someone came up with one such interesting adventure park. To my great surprise, I was quite thrilled to find out that the famous Wild Tribe Ranch, which was earlier located in Red Hills is now being shifted to a fantastic location in ECR. Even better, I somehow got myself an invite through the Chennai bloggers club

Situated right next to the Intercontinental resort and a stone's throw away from Crocodile Park, they couldn't have got a better spot in the city. With a bright splash of orange, the letters of Wild Tribe Ranch is displayed quite vividly right in the main road , for everyone to see. Missing it, while driving down is almost impossible

The owners have managed to line up a lot of interesting activities for almost all age groups and not just for the extreme adventure seekers. The first sight into the ranch will make you stop on your tracks and awe at the mammoth structure that has been built . A giant structure with hanging beams, ropes, tires and metal rods suspended from the ceiling awaits you. As you strap on the safety belts that would always prevent you from falling , you get to walk the steep climb as you hoop through thin metal cylinders and wobbling footpaths as you reach to the top.

The top of the structure leads you to the zipline that gets you to the other side of the adventure ranch
The zipline, incidentally is Tamilnadu's longest zipline and sure looks thrilling from up there and its called Flying Fox

Other activites around the zone include Body Zorbing soccer, Bull Ride, Surf Xprt, Trampoline Jump, Gyroscope and of course a small swimming pool to chill out after a heavy dose of adrenaline

The second most interesting activity , in my opinion would be the ATV Zone. A nicely laid track, you can get to zip around a couple of laps in their ATV bike and kick in some dust!

If you still have some energy left in you , get suited up with the army gear, guns and enter in the Paint Ball zone as you knock out your hidden enemies

So next time you want to spend your time in a completely different way , this is where you should head to

You can check out further information in their website :

Post this if you are looking for a good dinner or lunch in ECR, you should head out to Maplai restaurant. Check out my review here.
